One of my favorite places in Gloucester to draw is the State Pier, with its infinite variety of forms, lines, shapes and assertive maritime hardware that only a fisherman would comprehend. After making many sketches and drawings throughout the summer, I decided it would be fun to capture the entire 1,200 foot long pier in a single panel, thus the accordion fold book. It began with an assemblage of drawings done on site, one section at a time, and was completed with the help of photographs.
